It's really not as huge a leap as some people might think. Take football for example: a bunch of men in skin-tight pants who grab at each other for a few hours and slap each other on the ass as a sign of approval. Then they all go take a shower together.
Well sure...but how many of those football players do you think would be excited to continue doing so if they knew they were slapping the ass of a gay man? ;)
