Isn't it kind of sad when the BBC is doing a better job of accurate reporting of our government affairs than any of the U.S. new sources seem to be? At least the BBC's headline is accurate, as opposed to many of the U.S. sources which claim Gates said the U.S. was losing (which he didn't say) I believe the quote was something along the lines of "we're not winning, but we're not losing either."
Clark Bar, you've converted me. Here's to the BBC!
Raises a good point. I'm going to go Gwyneth Paltrow for a moment here. The British press does a much better job of avoiding innuendo than the American press does. Take a look at the headlines on the Beeb:
'No extradition' in Russian probe
'Bad fats' ban in NYC restaurants
Richest 2% own 'half the wealth'
They put quotes around anything that isn't straight fact, no matter how innocuous. Compare that to the Drudge Report, which tries to persuade you one way or the other before you ever actually read the article.
