Happy Sts. Cyril and Methodius day! I went back and re-read my comment from last year's post, and I thought I'd add some extra information I have gleaned in the last year. Young Roman men were often not allowed to marry at all, due to their requirement to be part of the Roman army. Ceasar (or whomever it was, I'm NOT good at history, so I'll just embarass myself right now) declared that soldiers could not have wives because wives would take the men's minds OFF of fighting and war. However, Valentine secretly married young soldiers and their significant others, thus "sticking it to the man" in a way. It appears my information last year was a bit off, except for the secret marriages part. And who knows, he may have helped thwart arranged marriages too. :) Just wanted to brighten your Feast of Sts. Cyril and Methodius! Hope it's wonderful!

Haha, good call. I also used to think it was to celebrate the feast of St. Valentine, but that's slightly difficult when the Church has no idea if he even existed much less who he was.
