Carroll's new mascot

Ick. This is what they came up with for the mascot of a team called the Fighting Saints? I wouldn't know whether to high-five the thing or cuddle with it. Is there no St. Rottweiler we could have modeled this thing after? Or maybe St. George, the dragon slayer? St. Christopher, the man-killing giant? The St. Bernard just doesn't do it for me.

Apparently it was some sort of contest. I personally think they should have stuck with the boxing haloed baby, but oh well. The dog's name is Halo and it's actually a pretty cute costume. HUGE feet. Not sure how he walks in them. :) As per St. Christopher, wasn't it decided that he wasn't really a saint? Just curious. By the way, Carroll kicked Eastern Oregon's butt, 49-3. Just thought I'd share. See you in two weeks!

Cons: WTF???
Pros: At least a St. Bernard always has a barrel of hooch around his neck for easy access.

I always liked the baby/angel/pugilist/saint too. Not sure why it needed to be changed.

It's a common misconception that St. Christopher isn't a saint anymore. The Catholic Church revised the feast day schedule after Vatican II and removed the feast days of mythological saints. St. Christopher was an ogre who carried people across a river for a living, so he pretty clearly fell into that category. They don't celebrate his feast day anymore, but technically he's still a saint.

Bill:

One distinct advantage: no barrel of hooch with the baby saint mascot that preceded..."Halo."

As for the parking ticket, the machine doesn't spit out receipts unfortunately. Unless there's some sort of memory on the thing, I'm stuck with my word vs. the meter maid who no doubt won't even remember putting the ticket there.
