Great news for Tommy Law
University of Minnesota Law School Professor Michael Paulsen has decided to leave UM for St. Thomas beginning in the fall. Paulsen is an excellent professor and renowned constitutional scholar. During my 1L year, he came to St. Thomas as a visiting professor and was heavily courted to jump ship. Minnesota apparently made him a McKnight Presidential Professor at that point and he decided to stay. Those of us who had the privilege of taking constitutional law with him were disappointed.
Nonetheless, better late than never. I could only speculate as to why he chose this point to finally move to St. Thomas, but I would guess that the recent behavior of his colleagues at the university and their treatment of fellow former Office of Legal Counsel member and current St. Thomas law professor Robert Delahunty did little to help matters.
Other remarks on the hiring at Mirror of Justice and Volokh Conspiracy.

So great, so great.
And on the wake of 3 top-rated new professors - U of ST Law is now a Tier 3 law school.
Woot!
