The European Space Agency has announced that it will smash its SMART-1 spacecraft into the moon this coming September, just to see "what happens." Not to be out done, NASA now plans to shove a handful of lit Black Cats into the Hubble telescope and throw it out the car window at Mars. I eagerly await the results of these fantastic scientific endeavors.

Our tax dollars at work. But hey, at least we'll get some neo-tang out of this, right?
Clarification - my previous comment is directed to the author of this post, not you t-mac :)
Don't mock me for my love of science, Lea.
T-Mac--It's even better when it's Europe's tax dollars at work. :o)
Haha...fair enough. Lea--no worries, you rock! :-)
+1 to Lea.
OMFG i am so l33t!!! (I've officially lost my mind with all the thesis work I'm currently doing.)
These may not be the best uses of government money, but I'm very happy with my space program. At least when Nasa wastes my money, I get cool stuff like velcro, microwave ovens, satellite Tv and a reverse microaltimeter (whatever the hell that is).
When Congress wastes my money all I get is more paperwork to file.
